  • Fumé Blanc: Sauvignon Blanc but different..

    Jul 6, 2026

Fumé Blanc is Sauvignon Blanc, not quite as you know it.

While classic Sauvignon Blanc is aromatic and fruit-forward, Fumé Blanc is given time in oak, bringing extra texture, complexity and creamy character to the wine.

The name fumé means “smoky” in French, a nod to the subtle toast, spice and flinty notes that can develop through barrel fermentation and maturation. The result is still unmistakably Sauvignon Blanc, with its fresh citrus and tropical fruit character, but with a more weight and a rich, more layered finish.

At Tamburlaine, our newly released 2025 Fumé Blanc from the Orange Wine Region of Australia balances freshness with restraint. Vibrant fruit remains at the centre, supported by carefully judged oak and time in bottle. It is generous enough to enjoy on its own, yet structured enough to pair beautifully with seafood, roast chicken, creamy pasta and soft cheeses.

    A Rare Look Back

For the first time, we have curated a limited back-vintage collection featuring every Tamburlaine Fumé Blanc released since 2021. It is a rare opportunity to taste how the wine has evolved across vintages  and how beautifully Sauvignon Blanc can develop with age.

The collection is available exclusively to Gold and Trophy Members, while stocks last. Learn more about Membership.
